Display at the AHRC

19th April 2010
The Arts & Humanities Research Council have provided a great opportunity to stage a ‘mini exhibition’ for creative types at their Bristol offices and amongst some impressive displays of artwork and creativity by my friends/colleagues is some of my photography.

With the imminent relocation of the AHRC to premises in Swindon, some fairly prestigious pieces of artwork formerly on display (one was a ‘Hockney’, no less) had to be removed from the Bristol Whitefriars offices leaving some pretty drab and dreary walls desperately in need of adorning for the final weeks, thus presenting this unique opportunity.

Although not open to the public, this has opened up a platform to display artwork and I’m hoping this will path the way for some public exhibitions in the very near future. Pieces on display (on 20 x 30 inch canvases) are ‘Coasteerers at Sunset’, ‘Rocks near Porthgain’, ‘Waterfall’ and ‘Joseph’ (all featured on this site).

Thanks to everyone who’s had a look (although you mightn’t have had much choice if you were stuck in a board meeting!) or anyone who has commented on my work and to Ted MacKenzie (facilities manager) for facilitating this.

As a postscript to this, I am pleased to have been asked to supply several images for the decoration of some of the offices at the AHRC premises in Swindon. I hope they go some way to helping brighten up the walls there.

The Whitefriars building: soon-to-be former home of the AHRC. Never been home to the A & E department of the B.R.I. as far as I know...
