Display at The Star & Dove commences

Hot on the heels of my month-long exhibited entry at the Grant Bradley Gallery, I’m pleased to announce the start of a new display of my work at The Star and Dove restaurant and pub http://www.thestaranddove.co.uk/. One of Bristol’s most celebrated eateries, the walls of the establishment’s downstairs dining room/bar are now adorned with a selection of my prints which are also for sale.
The themes of the photography on display are Nocturnal and Local Interest and mainly feature images of Bristol. More specifically, the area of Totterdown where the Star and Dove is located is shown amongst these. Subsequently, I’ve loosely titled the display ‘Late and Local’, although this is subject to change while I rack my brain for a better name. Indeed, if anyone else can come up with something more interesting then by all means let me know…there might even be a pint in it for the person with the best idea!
Also in common amongst some of the work on display are unique or rarely occurring incidental elements and changes which render some of the scenes unlikely to ever be repeated again. This could include a nearby temporary lighting setup which happened to be present during TV filming work or where the photographed scene would now no longer be possible due to structural alterations. In a way, these hopefully demonstrate some of the excitement of capturing the moment and seizing the opportunity to shoot what grabs your attention when you can - it could all change in an instance…
Question: what has recently changed to make recreating this scene now impossible?
Back to the display itself, this is my biggest public show of work to date (well, okay - it is only my second) and I am pleased to have this opportunity. It will be ongoing and may evolve as time goes by.
Finally, if you happen to be in the area, I'd recommend paying the Star and Dove a visit where you can comfortably relax with a drink, sample some decent food and take in some of the artwork on show!
